This workshop, taught by acclaimed actor Trent Moore, teaches physical techniques to broaden your range and hone your camera technique, and then explores the Practical Aesthetics approach to scene study to bring out your best instincts and sharpen your commitment to the moment.
Physical Craft is studied as a foundation for exploration and expansion. Trent will introduce the physical techniques of Rudolf Laban and Michael Chekhov to allow you to release self-censoring and expand your choices, while learning the physical control that is critical in film work.
Practical Aesthetics is an action-driven technique, providing a simple set of practicable tools that let you deepen your best instincts and play with purpose and passion.  By focusing on actions related to your task, you are able to banish self-consciousness, find flow, and commit your full self to the moment in front of you.
The Dynamic Actor Workshop is focused not on what you think or feel, but on what you do. At the end of the eight weeks, you will have a toolkit of simple, tangible skills that will let you create truthful and compelling actions.

The class combines classroom group exercises, scene work, and camera work.

This workshop is for the beginner, the seasoned professional, and any actor ready to take their craft to the next level.

It's great to know what to do in the audition room, but that does you no good if you don't know how to prepare before the audition. Why? Because every audition tip ever is secondary to this one truth: if you want to book, you have to be good. And if you want to be good, you have to own the role and have fun.

It’s easy enough to say, but how do you do it? Confidence and presence aren’t actions; they are results. They cannot be conjured from thin air, but must be earned through focused and deliberate practice.

That’s what this workshop teaches: Practicable, repeatable habits that you can employ from the moments you first lay eyes on a script. Skills that will deepen your best instincts, call forth your personal connections, and let you have a hell of a good time doing what you love.

We’ll take a scene from a film script and a commercial script though the phases of preparation:
  • Cold reading
  • Early memorization
  • Varying and testing choices
  • Having fun taking direction
You will walk away knowing how to attack any script and make it your own, and how to walk out of the audition room happy and excited.

It’s not about finding out what they want – it’s about finding you who you are, and all that you can be.

Animators must create living, breathing characters that tell a story, share an experience, and move an audience.

In other words, they are actors.

The Dynamic Animator Workshop offers an actor’s perspective that animators can directly use in their work, exploring the principles of acting that matter the most to animators.
